Small Business Health Insurance Plans - Insurance Problem and Health Plan Solutions
One of the biggest issues for today's small business person whether Internet related or not is securing affordable health insurance for themselves, their family and business. A key part to getting better options (while the Government tries to figure out what to do) is to incorporate - if you have not already.
Plans and packages for a small business, even with only one or two employees are better than if you are an individual trying to secure a plan as an individual for yourself or family. When you are a small business, the insurance companies are hoping you will add employees over time. Thus the plan options could be better.
All in all the landscape has to improve. Cobra is too expensive and it only lasts (as of this writing) 18 months.
As our economy has more and more Internet businesses and small businesses, the health insurance solution needs to come quickly.
Plan Solutions
In my opinion, the main way you bring cost down with anything is to have more companies compete. Right now most states only allow for in-state health insurance companies to compete. So, as a small business, you may only have 4 or 5 choices. If they all keep their rates at $1000 and up, we all get screwed and there is no way out. Allow 30 companies across the U.S and we'd have a different story.
